Organics & Zumba Nation...

Alright, it's time to update! Sorry it has taken me forever but my little man was down with a mild cold and all of his big ol' molars are coming in, so he is in a lot of pain... but he is a tough guy and is pushing through.

The vitamins I started taking last few weeks has been amazing!  My hair and nails are growing at an incredible rate and is even stronger.  I am more energetic and feel like I am sleeping better. So, I will share a few things I have done to change up the old, boring routine.

#1) Drinking water.  I have a 64 oz. neon pink camelback that I take everywhere I go.  Water flushes out the system and helps your skin by a thousand fold! I haven't had many break outs since my water intake has increase with exercising.  Also, when you are exercising, you need to consume MORE water than the average requirement to nourish your muscles and replaced what you lost in your sweat.

#2) Vitamins.  You can vary this, some people like taking vitamins and some don't.... this is where I would say if you're not into taking more than a few pills, then get ONE good multivitamin.

#3) Exercise! Yes, I know it's very difficult to find the time to workout, being a stay at home mom, I understand this... but if you can find something that it fun for you and your child... it's totally worth it... which brings me to my example:

I finally got my Zumba kit!!!

I picked it up yesterday at this lady's house... her daughter runs a shop in the New Gate Mall called "Energy" and sells Zumba stuff!  I got this kit for $55 (with NO shipping or taxes) where on the website it costs anywhere from $64.95 to $79.99 (depending on the kit, plus taxes and shipping)  I use to go to the Zumba classes back in Okinawa because I LOVE to dance... I hate regular, lame old, burnt out routines... so dancing is a great way to exercise, plus AJ dances with me!  It's a GREAT way to get what you need on a daily basis and you can do it from home.  I hate the gym and thinking that people are looking at me weird so, this is great for beginners to advanced.  Now, I am getting pretty daring, but I am going to get certified as a Zumba instructor as soon as my husband relaxes from returning home.  I want to help people, I love to dance, stay in shape and this can lead me in that direction!

Next subject is... FOOD.  Yep, I know everyone hates to talk about food.  Trust me, I still have a hard time with what to eat, how to prepare it, do I have enough time including making something for my child?! It's stressful but there's few corners I am taking that I will share!

#1) Organic Vitamin D Milk - Great for anytime of the day. AJ is starting to drink more of it, though I have to put organic chocolate mix into it make him drink it, but I have had a terrible time getting him to even just LIKE milk.  Organic milk, leaves you full and eliminates gas! So, yes... I recommend!

#2) Egg Whites - I usually have this every morning for breakfast with mild salsa or salsa verde.  Quick and easy, leaves you full and the spices help with speeding up your metabolism.  Sometimes I add cheese, just depending on the day.

#3) Apples or Yogurt - Apples in the morning or wonderful because it contains the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, so it leaves you full and energize! Yogurt contains the probiotics for your immune system and leaves you full. :)

Here's a few organic products that I have tried and actually LIKED.  I get these at the Good Earth Naturals food Store... I only get a FEW things because Organic is kind of expensive.

These fruit snack are yummy and so good for the kids... sometimes I steal a bag... or three from AJ! :)

Well, I hope this has helped a little! I am still trying and I don't do everything perfect but as long as your trying, that's all that matters.  I personally just like that way I FEEL now a days... less tired and exhausted and I feel like I can put more energy into other chores and also playing with AJ.
Feel free to comment or ask me any questions!  Next blog entry I will try to post "before" and "after" pictures from eating healthy and doing the Zumba kit so I will be back in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Much love. XoXo

  1. Have you checked the Commissary on base? I know at ours I am able to find the spaghetti noodles, sauce, crispy bars, cookies & the Annie's bunnies there. We have one 1/2 of an aisle that is gluten free, natural, healthy stuff and then throughout the store there are organic things mixed in. We can even get organic diced tomatoes & canned beans.

  2. Yes! I have! I noticed that they do carry a few things that I mentioned above so that's good because the price is a "little" lower. Thank you for your interest! <3

  3. I don't know if you like them or not, but one huge thing we've added to our diet is beans. Sometimes I'm lazy and get the canned stuff, like in the summer when it's just too hot to have them simmering on the stove for hours. But they're an amazing meat substitute for tacos.
